Founded in 1950

For over seven decades, Meridian Credit Union has been serving the financial needs of Canadian families and businesses. What began as a small community initiative has grown into one of Ontario's largest member-owned financial institutions, always staying true to our founding principles of trust, integrity, and member-first service.

Foundation & Early Years

Meridian Credit Union was established by a group of forward-thinking community members who believed in the power of cooperative financial services. Starting with just 47 members and modest assets, we set out to provide accessible financial solutions to working families.

1985

Expansion & Growth

Reached 50,000 members and expanded our branch network across Ontario. Introduced innovative electronic services and became one of the first institutions to offer automated teller machines to our members, demonstrating our commitment to technological advancement.

2005

Digital Transformation

Launched comprehensive online services and mobile applications, making financial management more accessible than ever. Surpassed 250,000 members and $5 billion in assets under management, solidifying our position as a leading financial institution.

2018

Innovation Leadership

Introduced advanced security features, AI-powered financial planning tools, and personalized member experiences. Opened our state-of-the-art Vaughan Branch at 100 Promenade Parkway, featuring cutting-edge technology and member-focused design.
